Actually Worked!
Tom had this problem of getting up late in the morning and was always late for work. His boss was mad at him and threatened to fire him if he didn't do something about it.
So Tom went to his doctor who gave him pill and told him to take it before he went to bed. Tom slept well and in fact beat the alarm in the morning. He had a leisurely breakfast and drove cheerfully to work.
"Boss", he said, "The pill actually worked!"
"That's all fine" said the boss, "But where were you yesterday?"
ちゃんと効いたんです！
トムは朝寝坊の癖があって、いつも会社に遅刻していた。彼の上司はついに怒りだし、なんとかしないとクビにすると脅した。トムは医者に行くと、医者は薬を渡し夜寝る前に飲むようにとトムに伝えます。トムはぐっすりと寝られました。アラームより早くに朝は起きられました。彼はゆっくりと朝食を取ると元気に車を運転して会社に行きます。
彼は上司に向かって言います。「部長、もらった薬がちゃんと効いたんです！」
彼の上司が言います。「それは何よりだ。だけど昨日はどこに行ってたんだ？」
