Do You Know What Day It Is?
"I bet you don't know what day this is", said the wife to her husband as he made his way out the front door. The husband was perplexed, but was always a quick thinker:
"Of course I do, my dear. How could I forget!?" With that, he turned and rushed to catch the bus for work.At 10 AM, the doorbell rang and when the woman opened the door, she was handed a box containing a dozen long stemmed red roses.
At 1 PM, a foil wrapped, two pound box of her favorite chocolates arrived. Later, a boutique delivered a designer dress. The woman couldn't wait for her husband to come home.
The husband was smug when he returned from work, satisfied that he had recovered what could have been a very bad situation.
His wife was indeed surprised: "First the flowers, then the chocolates and then the dress!" she exclaimed, "I've never had a more wonderful Groundhog Day in my life!"
今日何の日か知ってる？
「今日は何の日か知らないでしょう？」と夫が出かけようとしていると妻が彼に向かって言う。夫は困惑するが、機転の利く彼はこう言った：「もちろん知ってるよ。忘れる訳ないじゃないか！？」そして、彼は急いで出かけるとバスに乗って仕事に行った。
朝10時になると、玄関のチャイムが鳴り妻が応えると、彼女は箱を手渡され、その中には1ダースのバラの花束が入っていた。
午後1時になるとアルミホイルに包まれている小振りな箱に入った彼女の大好きなチョコレートが到着した。その後、ブティックからデザイナーブランドのドレスが配達される。妻は夫が帰ってくるのが待ち遠しくてしょうがなくなった。
夫は仕事から帰ってくると、下手すると最悪の事態になりかねない状態からうまくやった事に自己満足を感じていた。
妻は実際、とても驚いていた。「最初はお花でしょ。それからチョコレート、そしてドレス！」と彼女は大声で言う。「こんなに素敵な春分の日は生まれて初めてよ！」
