Gasmen's race
Two gas company servicemen, a senior training supervisor and a young trainee were out checking meters in a suburban neighborhood. They parked their truck at the end of the alley and worked their way to the other end. At the last house a woman looking out her kitchen window watched the two men as they checked her gas meter. Finishing the meter check, the senior supervisor challenged his younger co-worker to a foot race down the alley back to the truck to prove that an older guy could outrun a younger one. As they came running up to the truck, they realized the lady from that last house was huffing and puffing right behind them. They stopped immediately and asked her what was wrong.Gasping for breath, she replied, "When I saw two gas men running as hard as you two were, I figured I'd better run too!"
ガス会社の人達の競走
二人のガス会社のサービスマン - 教育係と研修中の若い男 - が郊外でメーターをチェックしていた。彼らはトラックを路地の入り口に止めて、順々に路地の奥まで仕事を進めていた。最後の家では台所から女性がガス会社の人達がメーターをチェックしているのを眺めている。メーターのチェックが終わると、教育係は自分の方が速く走れることを証明するために若い方にトラックまで競走しようと挑む。彼らがトラックまで走って行く途中、彼らは最後の家にいた女性がすぐ後ろをあたふたと追いかけて来るのに気付く。彼らはすぐに止まり、彼女になにか問題があるのか聞く。息を切らせながら女性は答える、「ガス会社の人達がすごい勢いで逃げて行くのをみたから、私も逃げたほうがいいと思ったのよ！」
