The horse's mouth
This man was sitting quietly reading his paper one morning, peacefully enjoying himself, when his wife sneaks up behind him and whacks him on the back of his head with a huge frying pan. He asks, 'What was that for?'She replies, 'What was that piece of paper in your pants pocket with the name Marylou written on it?'
He says, 'Oh honey, remember two weeks ago when I went to the horse races? Marylou was the name of one of the horses I bet on.'
She is appeased and goes off to work around the house. Three days later he is once again sitting in his chair reading and she repeats the frying pan swatting.
He says, 'What's that for this time?'
She answered, 'Your horse called.'

ある男が静かな朝を新聞を読みながら過ごしていた、すると彼の妻が背後に忍び寄りいきなり彼の後頭部をフライパンで叩いた。「なんでそんな事するんだ？」妻は答えます、「あなたのズボンのポケットに”メアリールー”という名前が書いた紙切れが入ってたけどあれは何？」
彼は言います、「ああ、あれか。覚えてるかな、２週間前に競馬に行ったのを？メアリールーはその時賭けた馬の名前なんだよ。」
妻は納得して家の周りの仕事を始めます。３日後に、彼は同様に椅子に座り、新聞を読んでいると、妻がまたフライパンで彼の頭を殴ります。
彼は言います、「今度は何なんだ？」
妻が答えます、「あなたの馬から電話があったわ。」
