Cats Mating
A veterinary surgeon had had a hell of a day, but when he got home from tending to all the sick animals his wife was waiting with a long cool drink and a romantic candle-lit dinner, after which they had a few more drinks and went happily to bed.
At about 2:00 in the morning, the phone rang. "Is this the vet?" asked an elderly lady's voice.
"Yes, it is", replied the vet, "Is this an emergency?"
"Well, sort of", said the elderly lady, "there's a whole bunch of cats on the roof outside making a terrible noise mating and I can't get to sleep. What can I do about it?"
There was a sharp intake of breath from the vet, who then patiently replied "Open the window and tell them they're wanted on the phone"
"Really?" said the elderly lady, "Will that stop them?"
"Should do," said the vet, "- IT STOPPED ME!"
猫の交尾
ある獣医はとんでもなく忙しい一日を過ごした。しかし彼が病気の動物の治療に疲れて家に帰ると奥さんが冷たいドリンクとろうそくの火のみで照らしたロマンチックな夕食を準備してくれていた。二人は何杯かのドリンクを飲み、幸せな気分で寝室に行った。夜中の2時ごろ、電話が突然鳴る。「獣医さんですか？」と老女の声が聞く。
「そうですが、緊急の用事でしょうか？」と獣医が答える。
老女は言う。「ええ、まあそんな感じです。屋根の上に猫がたくさん居て、交尾をしてひどく大きな騒ぎを起こしてるので、寝られないのです。何か良い方法はないですか？」
獣医は気を静めるため大きく息を吸い込むと、抑えながらこう答える。「窓を開けて、猫に電話に出るように言ってやってください。」
老女が言う。「本当ですか？それでアレしてるのを止められるんですか？」
獣医は言う。「そのはずですよ。私は止められましたから！」
