E-Mail Note
An Illinois man left the snowballed streets of Chicago for a vacation in Florida. His wife was on a business trip and was planning to meet him there the next day. When he reached his hotel, he decided to send his wife a quick e-mail.
Unable to find the scrap of paper on which he had written her e-mail address, he did his best to type it in from memory. Unfortunately, he missed one letter, and his note was directed instead to an elderly preacher's wife whose husband had passed away only the day before. When the grieving widow checked her e-mail, she took one look at the monitor, let out a piercing scream, and fell to the floor dead.
At the sound, her family rushed into the room and saw this note on the screen:
Dearest Wife,
Just got checked in. Everything prepared for your arrival tomorrow.
Your Loving Husband.
P.S. Sure is hot down here.
短いメール
イリノイ州の男性が雪にまみれたシカゴの街を後にしてフロリダに休暇を取りに行った。彼の妻は出張に行っていたため、次の日にフロリダで落ち合う約束をしていた。彼はホテルに着くと、短いメールを妻に出すことにした。妻のメールアドレスを書いた紙が見つからないため、男性は記憶に従ってメールアドレスをタイプした。残念ながら一文字だけ間違っていて、そのメールは代わりに一日前に牧師の旦那さんを亡くしたばかりの年老いた女性に届いてしまった。悲しみにくれていた未亡人がメールをチェックするために画面を見ると、突然金切り声をあげ、床に倒れて死んでしまった。
音に驚き、彼女の家族が部屋に急いで駆け込んでくると、画面にはメールの内容があった：
愛する妻へ、
たった今チェックインした。明日君が到着するための準備は整ったよ。
君の愛する旦那より
