Greatest Wish
In a city park stood two statues, one female and the other male. These two statues faced each other for many years.Early one morning, an angel appeared before the statues and said, "Since the two of you have been exemplary statues and have brought enjoyment to many people, I am giving you your greatest wish. I hereby give you the gift of life. You have 30 minutes to do whatever you desire."
And so the statues came to life. They smiled at each other, ran toward some nearby woods and dove behind some bushes. The angel smiled to himself as he listened to the two giggling, bushes rustling, and twigs snapping. After 15 minutes, the two statues emerged from the bushes, satisfied and smiling.
Puzzled, the angel looked at his watch and said to the statues, "You still have 15 minutes. Would you like to continue?" The male statue looked at the female and asked, "Do you want to do it again?" Smiling, the female statue said, "Sure, but this time YOU hold the pigeon and I'll shit on its head."
積年の想い
市営公園には２つの像が建っていた。一つは女性、もう一つは男性の像である。この２つの像はお互いを向かい合い何年間も立っている。ある早朝、天使が２つの像の前に舞い降りてくる。天使は言う、「君たち二人は長い間模範的な像として長い間人々に喜びを与え続けてきた。だから君たちに一番の望みを叶えてあげよう。これから３０分間、君たちは命を与えられ、何でも望むことをすることが出来る。」
そして２つの像に命が与えられる。彼らはお互いに微笑みかけ合い、近くの森に走って行くと、茂みの中に飛び込んでいく。天使は彼らがくすくすと笑ったり茂みががさがさいったり、小枝が折れたりするのを微笑ましい思いで聞いている。１５分後、彼らは茂みから、満足そうに微笑んで戻って来る。
戸惑いながら、天使は時計を見てはこう言う、「まだ１５分あるよ。まだ続けたくはないのかい？」男性の像が女性の像に向かって聞く、「もう一度したいかい？」微笑みながら女性の像はこう言う、「もちろん！だけど、今度はあなたが鳩を押さえて、私が頭の上にクソをかけるわ。」
