New Function of Elevator
An Amish boy and his father were visiting a nearby mall. They were amazed by almost everything they saw, but especially by two shiny silver walls that moved apart and back together again by themselves.
The lad asked, "What is this, father?"
The father (having never seen an elevator) responded, "I have no idea what it is."
While the boy and his father were watching wide-eyed, an old lady in a wheelchair rolled up to the moving walls and pressed a button. The walls opened and the lady rolled between them into a small room. The walls closed and the boy and his father watched as small circles lit up above the walls.
The walls opened up again and a beautiful twenty-four-year-old woman stepped out.
The father looked at his son anxiously and said, "Go get your mother."
エレベータの新機能
アーミッシュの男の子と父親が近くの町のショッピングモールに出かけます。二人は見る物ほとんどすべてに驚きますが、特に自動的に銀色の壁が開いたり閉じたりする物にびっくりします。子供が質問します。「お父さん、これは何なの？」
（エレベータを一度も見たことが無い）父親は答えます。「何がなんだかさっぱり分からねぇ。」
目をまん丸にして二人が見つめていると、一人の老婆が車椅子で動く壁の所に行くと、ボタンを押します。壁は開き、老婆は壁の間の小さな部屋に車椅子で入って行きます。壁が閉じ少年と父親は壁の上で小さな丸が光るのを見つめます。
次に壁が開くと、24歳の美しい女性が出てきました。
父親は息子を落ち着かない様子で見ると言います。「かあさんを呼んでこい。」
