Wrong Answer
Two young engineers applied for a single position at a computer company.
They both had the same qualifications. In order to determine which individual to hire, the applicants were asked to take a test by the Department manager.Upon completion of the test, both men missed only one of the questions.
The manager went to the first applicant and said, "Thank you for your interest, but we've decided to give the job to the other applicant."
"And why would you be doing that? We both got 9 questions correct," asked the rejected applicant.
"We have based our decision not on the correct answers, but on the question you missed," said the Department manager.
"And just how would one incorrect answer be better than the other?" the rejected applicant inquired.
"Simple," said the Department manager, "Your fellow applicant put down on question #5, 'I don't know.' You put down, 'Neither do I.'"
間違った解答
二人の若い技術者があるコンピュータ会社の人員募集に応募した。二人ともまったく同じ資格とスキルだった。どちらの技術者を採用するか決めるため、彼らは部署のマネージャによるテストを受けることになった。
テストが終了し、二人ともたった一問だけを間違っていた。
マネージャは一人目の技術者の所に行くと、こう言う。「うちの会社に応募してくれてありがたいが、採用はもう一人の技術者に決まったよ。」
「なんでそんな風になるんですか？僕も彼も9問正解だったじゃないですか。」と不採用の技術者が質問する。
「我々の決断は正解した回答ではなく、間違った回答によるものだ。」と部署のマネージャが言う。
「片方の間違った回答がもう一つの間違った回答より良いなんて事があるんですか？」と不採用の技術者は食い下がる。
部署のマネージャが応える。「簡単だよ。もう一人の技術者は問題5の回答に『分かりません。』と書いた。君が書いた回答は『僕も分かりません。』だった。」
